How much do neurosurgeons make annually?

I'm planning on becoming a neurosurgeon in a few years and I'm wondering what their average pay in the U.S. ranges around. I've seen things that say that they make around 200,000 per year, but I've also seen things that say that they make around 800,000. Please also tell me what states have the highest pay for neurosurgeons. Thank you.
